The United States Supreme Court has given great guidance regarding searches in the custodial setting of a jail distinct from the search requirements used for law enforcement. A thorough review of the leading Supreme Court decisions and their applications will be discussed. Searches of clothing, property, cells and personal searches to include pat and strip searches will be the focus of this seminar.
