Seminar PSYCH7.1: Creating a Culture to Combat Officer Suicide
Sunday 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Room: 209
Officers choose the profession to protect others and, in that role, they develop an inherent strength. Training to be brave in the face of danger. But there is a dichotomy that is rarely discussed. When the action stops, what is left in the wake of such bravery? Cumulative stress of the job? This panel discussion will explore an officer's mental wellness and provide solutions in combating officer suicide.
SPEAKERS
Sheriff Peter Koutoujian, Middlesex County Sheriff's Office, Medford, MA and Olivia Johnson, D.M., Senior Research Associate, Institute for Intergovernmental Research, Tallahassee, FL
